🌺 During our walk, we’ll take a closer look at phenomena that may occur in gardens and parks at times that are unusual for plants. Premature leaf discoloration and leaf drop, stunted growth, reblooming plants, the emergence of new growth, or unusual reactions to weather conditions can be either a natural response of plants to the course of the season or a sign that the plant is under stress.
Together, we’ll observe plants and consider when unusual behavior is part of their natural cycle and when it should raise our concerns. We’ll discuss the phenomenon of plants entering an additional period of summer dormancy and how drought, high temperatures, sudden changes in weather, water and nutrient deficiencies, and damage from diseases and pests affect the appearance of plants.
🍂 We’ll pay special attention to premature leaf discoloration, a second—autumn—bloom, and unusual growths, as we try to interpret what the plant is „telling” us through its appearance. Participants will also learn what symptoms to look for during their daily garden observations and when concerning changes require action.
This walk is for anyone who wants to better understand plants and learn to observe them not only when they look perfect, but especially when they start to surprise us.
🧑🌾 Guide – Katarzyna Misiak, M.Sc. (Eng.) – Gardener, naturalist, and keen observer of the plant world. She has been working with plants for years, learning about their needs, behaviors, and remarkable ways of responding to changing conditions. During walks, she reveals the garden from a perspective that’s often not immediately apparent. She reads plants like a language—from leaves, shoots, flowers, and fruits, she can glean information about a plant’s condition, the weather, its habitat, or the stress it has endured. She doesn’t just talk about plants; above all, she teaches how to observe and understand them. She draws attention to subtle, seemingly insignificant changes and shows that a garden is a dynamic organism in which almost every unusual reaction has a cause.
