This is the first synthesis of its kind in Asia (Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan) presenting seven communities belonging to pseudosteps, which belong to grassland vegetation, but unlike steppes develop in a zone where woody vegetation can also occur. In addition to pseudosteps, three typical steppes and three grassland communities of lowland, mountain and alpine zones were described.
