The study included tree ferns <em>Cyathea smithii<\/em>, which is native to New Zealand, where it grows up to 8 meters tall. It is one of the few woody ferns that can survive occasional snowfall and frosts down to about -5<sup>o<\/sup>C. A distinctive feature of this species is the maintenance of a \"skirt\" of dry leaves on the vertically erect rhizome, which protects the meristem from adverse environmental conditions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The research conducted allowed to describe the structure and growth potential of the cell suspension <em>C. smithii<\/em> which provides a basis for further experimentation.
