The study estimates the contribution of symplastic growth and intrusive growth to the formation of a vessel segment depending on the type of cells adjacent to it, using five species as examples: <em>Acer pseudoplatanus<\/em>, <em>Betula pendula, Catalpa bignonioides<\/em>, <em>Quercus robur <\/em>and <em>Robinia<\/em> <em>pseudoacacia<\/em>.
