On the basis of mathematical calculations and anatomical observations, the conclusion was drawn that only symplastic growth affects the circumference of the cambium cylinder, which is the secondary meristematic tissue responsible for the growth in thickness of branches and stems of woody plants. Based on the mathematical model, own observations and analysis of literature sources, it was concluded that the old assumptions about the vascular cambium need to be revised, as some of them prevent a proper and complete understanding of the developmental events in it. <span lang=\"en-GB\">The results of the analysis were sent to the journal <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>The Botanical Review<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">Article: <strong>Miodek, A.<\/strong>, Italian, W., Iqbal, M.,\u00a0<strong>Gizinska, A.<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Kojs, P<\/strong>.
